The moment I first saw you, my heart sang a lullabye
Who could know such melody was resting here inside?
Within the safety of my arms I cradled you with love,
A gift had been bestowed that I was so unworthy of.
You looked like such an
angel as I gazed into your eyes
They twinkled just like stardust, far bluer than the skies.
A scent just as a summer breeze, skin softer than a cloud,
Who could know such tiny lungs could whimper oh so loud.
It seems like only
yesterday into my arms you crept,
Each step you took with confidence, (the memories I’ve kept).
And now my arms release you as another life you tread,
And today into your arms a lovely angel walks instead.
And as you vow to love
her and make promises for life,
You begin another journey now, as husband and as wife
You've given my heart reason now for yet another verse
A song I thought could never be as lovely as the first
