A Lighthouse On The Sea

Next Poem

Her burden seemed so heavy and her heart could not withstand,
Life has grown so troublesome, things hadn’t gone as planned.
In the company of moonlight, no destiny in sight,
Into the sea she sailed toward the darkness of the night.

Lying back she stared into the never ending sky,
Her troubles left upon the shore, she’d bid them all goodbye.
No money did she bring along, no food or water brought,
Expecting not to need them, was a final voyage she sought.

Soon her eyes grew weary and she knew that soon she’d be
In a place that knew no heartache, in the confines of that sea.
And as the water carried her, she closed her eyes to rest,
As a cloud within a storm she sailed, upon the ocean’s crest.

Then suddenly awakened, she turned her head to find,
A beacon shining brightly on a rocky dark shoreline.
Out into the darkness was a pathway made of white,
Directed toward the shore that she had left on that same night.

She gazed across the water and no other vessels sailed,
The light, she sensed was hers to see, her journey now curtailed.
An unexpected light will sometimes change our destiny,
And guide us safely home, just like a lighthouse on the sea.
