A Table Made For Two

They were sitting there together at a table made for two,
From across the room I watched them, as they do what lovers do.
I didn't mean to stare, but I sat there mesmerized,
As he rubbed her hand so gracefully, she gazed into his eyes.

I couldn’t hear them talking, but the words I thought I knew,
He absorbed each word she uttered, and every breath she drew.
A twinkle in those loving eyes, a smile upon her face,
A gentle kiss upon her cheek, and then a warm embrace.

I imagined they were planning things, how later on that night,
They’d be making love so tenderly, beside the candlelight.
Oh what they must be feeling, to know a love like this,
I took another sip of wine, began to reminisce.

Another glass was empty as the waiter sauntered by, and
Embarrassed by the teardrop I reached up to wipe my eye.
“Is there something I can get for you? Something I can do?"
"I'd like what they are having at that table made for two."
