Somewhere in the distance stands a building made of white
High upon a hill it shines
throughout the darkest night
Inside behind the lectern
men and women
take their turn
Reading pretty speeches til the
speaker shouts 'adjourned' |
|
Their purpose is not hidden, they assemble every day
To accommodate the people all across the USA
A hundred men and women meet below the ivory tower
Armed with pen in hand they come to demonstrate their power |
|
The more
dependent we become, we satisfy their goal
Distracted by the handouts we yield them more control
There will be no poor and there will be no needy
Everything is paid for by the wealthy, rich and greedy |
|
Then one
day the wealthy, the ones that gave the most
Gathered all in one accord in states from coast to coast
They shut down all their factories, they closed their buildings down
And soon the streets were empty and great panic filled the towns |
|
And now
the politicians say we have to do without
People lined the streets and they began to scream and shout
You said that we are equal, you said you're on our side
You said it was our right to have our every need supplied |
|
And then
a voice from nowhere echoed loud throughout the towns
The words that he was yelling were quite simple, yet profound
With a person's right to happiness we should not find dispute
Unless of course the product of another mans' pursuit |
