A Purple Rose
I
think I'll catch the star light and toss it on the trees
To glisten just like diamonds as they twinkle in the breeze
And I might grab the sunshine just to toss it to and fro
I think that I shall try it, when I find a purple rose
And I will swim the ocean and I'll frolic with the fish
As deep as I might want to and as far as I might wish
And I will catch the moonlight and I'll hold it as it glows
I think that I shall try it, when I find a purple rose
And I might join the butterflies and paint my wings of hues
Just like the ones in rainbows, of yellows and of blues
And I'll collect the clouds of white and line them up in rows
I think that I shall try it, when I find a purple rose
I think that I might like to climb on raindrops as they fall
Right to the highest mountain, where I could see it all
Such happenings are waiting in a place that I suppose
Longs to be discovered just beside a purple rose
