Pentagon: Somewhere

One day I was out walking on the only street I knew
Colorless and silent, and lifeless was the view
I came upon a crossroads and I looked to find it's name
It didn't feel familiar like this place from whence I'd came

The name was printed 'Somewhere', this sign of black and white
The street on one side brightness, the other dark as night
And as I looked behind me, to that place I'd traveled through
I saw an old and beaten sign that read, 'Nowhere Avenue'

Pentagon: Nowhere Avenue
And so with curiosity, and with unhurried stride
I crossed the street to Somewhere, but didn't choose a side
For I could opt for brightness, or yet the still of night
But yet with great uncertainty, I walked the line of white

And I saw things on either side, that tempted me to stray
But breaching not the comfort, I chose to walk midway
And I could hear the luring sounds, of darkness and of light
Calling me to join them, but I continued on my plight

I turned each way to study them, I heard the gentle voices
Their words were calling out to me, of promises and choices
And even though I pondered them, my stride would not be broken
The comfort of my path would void each word that they had spoken

And suddenly I noticed that, this street abruptly ended
I was back right where I started on a street left unattended
And as I looked behind me, this place that I'd walked through
Had vanished and had led me back ... to Nowhere Avenue
