The
Tree
Sometimes we just don't understand why trials come our way
And answers fail to satisfy no matter how we pray
And all the words from loved ones, no matter how they try
Cannot explain with certainty, they cannot tell us why
And so we're left to analyze the lives that we have led
We think about the things we've done
We think of things we've said
Looking for a reason, or some incident to blame
We search to find the motive as to why the hardship came
And then one day while
walking, I came upon this tree
The most majestic specimen as far as I could see
How sturdy were it's branches, so tall it touched the sky
It hovered o'er the other trees that made their home nearby
I stopped in
observation, as I found this so profound
A sturdy branch had broken off and lay there on the ground
And all the other trees had not been damaged by the storm
Standing without consequence in tact, unyielding form
Just then it was so clear to me, our lives are like the trees
There is no rhyme or reason to the object of the breeze
But even though a part of it, with force was torn away
That tree stood tall and gracefully
Just like yesterday
